Summer...in February?

About a week ago I spent the day with Bo and Amelia.

She got up and had some breakfast.

After Bo finally got around and dressed he did some Color Wonder. I absolutely love Color Wonder. It is right up there with play dough.

Gus was worn out, the poor puppy.

Bo did some play dough. I brought Cookie Monster. He added some dinosaurs and cars to the mix.

 Play dough is the bomb!

Since last time Sis had play dough she ate it and shared with the dog, I let her play with her box. It is the shoebox size tub with a little bit of water and some big animals. Her box was meant to be mouth safe.

 She liked the water!

She kept kissing the frogs. FYI none of them turned into a prince.

Bo realized that she was playing with her "special surprise" and investigated it too.

Then since it was about 60 degrees outside we went to the park. Bo and I played ball, hide and seek, and he gathered up a large pile of sticks.

Sis was not sure about walking on the grass, so she spent a lot of time chasing me down trying to get picked up.

We went back to the house and Bo rode his scooter. He would get "stuck" and shout for help. Amelia would go "help" him out.  Too cute!

Both kids at lunch then slept for FOUR hours! Bo told me that I made him exhausted. When he got up he painted/dipped some coffee filter flowers for his mom.

He realized that we made a BOuquet and thought that is was hilarious.

For his box I picked out anything I had that could be in the ocean.

He was thrilled! He played for at least an hour.

He now enjoys small world play.

Sis played with her box again. It ended with her dumping the water on herself, but she had fun!

Love is in the Air

I got out the blue play dough and the infamous Cookie Monster.

Sis played too (with minimal tasting).

While she played I painted her ticklish feet.

Bo made a heart too,but his was contact paper and tissue paper.

This was Bo's box. Hidden in there was plastic hearts filled with candy hearts. Everything came from the Dollar Tree.

He found candy.

This was Amelia's box. Everything in here can be put into her mouth and came from the Dollar Tree also.

This was her first box, but she figured it out pretty quick.

She really liked it.

We also went outside to play soccer and color with chalk since it was a beautiful day for January.

Brrr

I'm hanging out with Bo and Amelia today.

Bo made a snowman out of marshmallows first. Both kids really enjoyed eating the marshmallows too!

While I cleaned up, Bo did a floor puzzle. Sis's help wasn't wanted.

She came and say with me and took pictures.

She's barely a year old and she's taking selfies.

Lots of them.

She really liked taking her own picture!

This was the sensory box. I had tried freezing a giant ice block but it didn't work, so the little tub was an iceberg. Both kids loved it!

Echo Echo Echo

Tonight I watched all SIX of these kiddos!

This was everybody doing play dough.

We also did puzzles, had chocate soup, and read a bedtime story. Sorry, but I don't have any pictures of those. My hands were a little full. My name echoed throughout the house until everybody went to bed. It was absolutely nuts but I love every minute spent with these kids.

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Earlier this month I picked Bo up from school and we spent the afternoon together.

We watched a little TV and ate lunch. I was apparently on the only piece of floor, so Gus and Bo laid on me.

We made some snowflake/ monster ornaments with Borax.

We twisted together white pipe cleaners and used ribbon and tape to hold them in the cup. I mixed 1/3 cup of Borax and 2 cups of boiling water. Once the Borax dissolved I divided it among the cups as let it sit for 24 hours.

The crystals formed and made cute little ornaments.

I made another wintery box. I exchanged the fake snow with rice.

I also added the Artic ocean, complete with icebergs!

We ended our day with a Christmas coloring page.

Frosty the Snowman

First up was a snowman. I bought big men's socks at the dollar store. Bo filled it with rice. I tied a knot in the top to keep it in and a white ribbon around the neck to make a head and body. I threw it in the microwave for a couple minutes to prevent bugs.

While it cooled he did a Cars puzzle I found at the Dollar Tree.

I used the top of the sock to create a hat. I tied a piece of red felt to the top of the hat to close it. I glued red felt stripes to the hat upon Bo's request and also made a scarf. Bo then directed me in button placement. I used the hot glue gun, but he picked the buttons and pointed to where he wanted them.

I got a new, bigger box for better small world play and hopefully less mess. The base is fake snow. I built the cabin for a box I'm planning for this summer, but it worked well in here ad I added the arctic toob.

The roof came off for more play.

Drew was the first one into the box, but everybody enjoyed it. Bo played for a long time.

I made new red play dough for Christmas. Bo enjoyed that too.
