Turtles and Shaving Cream

Griffin was in town this week, so I got to go play with him too.

 Before I went, I painted a paper plate brown and cut out the green turtle parts. I then taped it all together. Then I covered it with rubber cement and let Griffin put some pebbles on.

Silly me for thinking he might do a craft like I'd expect. He didn't place the rocks on, he put them on by the handful. He's such a boy.

The next thing was right up his alley though. I used a plastic table cloth and two cans of shave cream to make a slip 'n' slide.

It was followed by some sprinkler time and a bath.

Bugs... and Whales

This is the beginning of a paper plate ladybug.

Paint a red plate and two black plates. Put black dots on the red plate and cut out the inner circle of one black plate. The little circle will be the head and pipe cleaners will be the legs. Use a hole punch and tie everything together with a pipe cleaner.

 We also finished our paper sack whale finally. We stuffed it with newspaper, rubber banded it to make a tail, cut out and taped on flippers and drew a face.

Oh and to make the water I just frayed some paper an poked a hole for it to go in.

 I had some colorable bug stickers and Bo decided the best way to color them was while they were stuck to his belly.

 For lunch he had a Morgyable. Which is finger food in a muffin tin.

It just spices things up once in awhile.

 The sensory box today was black beans, fake flowers, pots, a watering tin and plastic bugs.

It was CUTE.

 His favorite part was the bugs of course.

 He painted coffee filters with water and food coloring.

 I later turned them into butterflies.

Brush Your Teeth

Today our theme was teeth. So after coloring a tooth and a toothbrush we headed outside to do our sensory box.

 I printed a picture of some teeth then covered them with contact paper.

 He loved squirting toothpaste on the teeth.

He wanted to taste and I said just once.

He told me it tasted like cheese. What kind of cheese has he been eating?

Neigh

Again the only thing we did today was a sensory box.

I used black beans, tractors and some little horses, which I had on my shelf.

Again Jake enjoyed helping Bo with it.

Ice Age

Today the only thing we did was a sensory box.

To make the block I used our usual sensory box and put an inch of water in the bottom and let it freeze. Next I added some animals and enough water to cover them and let it freeze then added more animals and water. I added a final layer of water and when I was ready I turned the box upside down and pulled the edges away from the ice and it popped out.

 I gave Bo a hammer and a blow dryer.

Jake basically took over getting the animals out.

 While Bo put them in his pool.

Happy Father's Day

This last week I had Bo and his big brother Jacob, so we only did one craft this week and that was for Father's Day.

I got my wonderful brother to mix up some concrete, which I then poured into some plastic plant holders like the ones to keep water from going everywhere.

 Then I had Bo put his foot in one and his hand in the other.

 With help from brother he put the stones in.

 His brother said that he didn't want to make a stone, but obviously Bo didn't make this one.

We had a red sensory box. I used red rice and toys found at the dollar store and toy tub.

 Even Jake got into it.

 For some easy contained entertainment this week I blew up some balloons and threw them in the play pen with some squishy balls, microbead pillows, a noodle, and a stuffed animal. Bo loved it so much he would ask to go to play in his bed.

Work Zone Up Ahead

Today our theme was construction vehicles. 

Last night I folded a plastic drop cloth in half and taped all of the edges, except a hole for us to go in and one for the fan. Then I taped one hole around the fan and turned it on. The bubble blew up and we climbed in.

 He kept saying, "I love my bubble!"

Since it was construction day we had some trucks in there with us.

And of course I couldn't let him have all the fun,

Next we made a dump truck out out of an egg carton. I found the instructions online.

The sensory box was simply rocks and trucks, but he was entertained for a good 30 minutes.
