Bucket List Item Done

I learned a new weave last weekend.
 It is my college colors.
Oh and it is reversible.

Day 20 and 21

Day 20 is somewhere I'd love to travel.
Nobody said it had to be real. I really don't like traveling. I'm more of a homebody, but if it were Hogwarts I would go to the moon if I had to.

Day 21 is something I wish I could forget.
The Joplin tornado would be nice to forget. My house wasn't hit, but the rest of my town was. Reminders are all around town. Some trees are more like posts, lots where there were buildigs are empty, buildings are going up, debris is still stuck in some trees, and of course going to school at the mall. The worst is that when people ask where you're from and you say Joplin they flood you with questions.

Harry Potter and Dinosaurs

We went on an early morning color hunt. I painted an egg carton with various colors and Bo had to find something that was the same color.

I just put a dot of paint in most of them. Some required mixing because I didn't have that color.

Of course everything he found was a car.

Before lunch we made some chocolate frogs and turtles. This was chosen because Drew is a Potterhead like me. I used Almond bark and a soap mold.

By the time I left there were only turtles left.

While Bo took a nap Drew and I watched the 8th movie and made wands.

We made designs on a dowel rod with hot glue. Then we painted it and glued a half marble to the end.

 This was mine.

This one is Drew's. Of course once they were dry we had to test them out by dueling.

When we got home from swim lessons Drew and I filled balloons with cornstarch, water and food coloring.

Next we threw them on the driveway.

Once it dried it look like splattered sidewalk chalk.

After getting cleaned up  Drew helped me make some salt dough. It is 1 cup of salt, 2 cups of flour and water until it feels like playdo. Then bake it at 275 for 2-3 hours. Make sure to leave room for expansion on the cookie sheet.

They made hand prints, dinosaur tracks, pizza, a cross, and even a bowl. I didn't expect Drew to want to do anything that I had planned for Bo, but he seemed to really get into everything.

These were the final outcome.

Now that I now I will be having the older boys I went ahead and started making the books I was going to make.

I used a folder with brads and one without. I turned the inside folder without brads pockets out that way I had three sections. I then hole punched the folded side and put it into the folder with brads.

I wrote an introduction which is more readable below.

The first activity with me was making wands.

Here is a more readable picture.
I downloaded the Harry Potter fonts off Mugglenet.

 I labeled each section.

His by yourself activity was a crossword that I made online.

Here are those two pages and and answer key that are more readable.

He didn't get the answer key, but once he does it I will give it to him.

 Then I labeled that section.

The last section doesn't have anything in it yet. It will have stuff that I think they would enjoy, but that I can't do with them because of time or that I don't have the skills needed.

Feel free to screen shot any of the pages and use them for yourself.

Messy Ninjas

First thing in the morning (because it looked like rain) I made sidewalk paint.
It is 1 part water, 1 part cornstarch, and a drop of food coloring. It looks lame at first, but once it dries it is cool.

Again because it looked like rain I tried to get the outdoor activities done, so we went and covered Bo and the trampoline in shaving cream.
Drew lathered him up from head to toe.

It is maybe the best kid activity ever. Heck if the trampoline were bigger I would have played.

This week the box is a construction box.
The base is black beans that I had from last year. I soaked them in alcohol to prevent bugs. Then I had some trucks in my stash that I threw in. It was simple, which was good because time wasn't on my side.

Bo and Drew played in it for awhile. The trucks spent more time on the table than in the box, but Bo seemed to love it.

Bo tells me that he is a ninja. He has even karate chopped the dog. I made him a ninja training course.
I used masking tape and streamers. It worked really well and he was able to karate chop them down when he was done.

Ninja in training!

Day 15-19

I was without internet this weekend and I have been babysitting since I got back from Wichita. I will have some bucket list stuff for you though.

Day 15 is something I want to do before I die.
I want to visit Platform 9 3/4 because I'm a nerd like that.

Day 16 is someone who inspires me.
This was my English teacher for 11th and 12th grade. He may never know it, but I really liked him... most of the time. He didn't teach me much about English, but he had some really good life lessons and asked difficult questions. He made me think, which I think is what a good teacher does.

Day 17 is something that has made a huge impact on my life recently.
I guess that would be graduating from the mall.

Day 18 is the most attractive woman alive.
Well I never really thought about it, but I guess I will go with Miranda Lambert.

Day 19 is something I love to do.
I know karate again, but it is what I love to do.

Make a T-shirt

I completed a bucket list item last week, but I forgot about it.

I made a t-shirt using paint and a salad spinner. It turned out really well. Bo picked out the colors, spun it, and told me where to place everything.

I finally got my bucket list created and hung up in my room, so maybe I will get more of it done now.

Days 12-14

Day 12 is something I love.

I absolutely LOVE karate. I have no idea what I would do without it.

Day 13 is my favorite band.

My favorite band is the Alfred Packer Memorial String Band. Their songs are hilarious. They are from Lawrence, Kansas and I first saw them at a bluegrass festival.

Day 14 is my favorite store.

It's more like an addiction.

Keep it simple

Today I had Drew (11) with Bo. I didn't know ahead of time so I didn't have anything planned for him to do, but he enjoyed hanging out with me and Bo.

Today we painted with toilet paper tubes bent into a heart shape. This is Drew's painting.

 This is Bo's.

Next Bo played with the sensory box, while I cleaned up the paint. Then we drew with chalk on the trampoline. Sorry no pics I forgot my phone inside.

The last activity of the day was fishing for letters. I got a fishing pole from the dollar store and glued a magnet to the end.
